Privacy Policy of ScanCalories

Last updated: January 28, 2025

1. Introduction

Welcome to ScanCalories, developed by Law Industries Ltd. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle your personal information and protect your data when using our AI-powered food analysis tool.

If you have any questions or concerns about this Privacy Policy, please contact us at dannylawapps@gmail.com.

2. Types of Data Collected

ScanCalories processes meal photos provided by users to deliver food analysis results. These images are temporarily sent to OpenAI’s Vision API for processing. The app does not collect or retain personal, usage, or tracking data beyond this temporary upload.

3. How We Use Your Data

When you upload a meal photo, ScanCalories uses OpenAI’s Vision API to analyse the image and provide food descriptions, calorie estimates, and macronutrient breakdowns. Images are sent securely to OpenAI for processing and are automatically deleted by OpenAI immediately after analysis.

ScanCalories does not store these images on external servers, nor do we have access to your analysis results beyond what is displayed on your device.

4. Data Sharing

ScanCalories does not share any user data with third parties. While images are temporarily sent to OpenAI for analysis, OpenAI does not retain the images beyond the analysis process.

5. Data Storage

All analysis results and meal entry data are stored locally on your device or in your private iCloud account if iCloud sync is enabled. Neither Law Industries Ltd nor OpenAI retains any copies of your images or analysis results.

6. User Rights

As a user, you have full control over your data. You can access, modify, or delete your meal entries directly through the app or your iCloud account. If you have further questions, please contact us at dannylawapps@gmail.com.

7. Data Protection Measures

Your photos are transmitted securely to OpenAI’s Vision API for processing. OpenAI automatically deletes these images after analysis. Additionally, all data stored locally on your device or in iCloud is protected by Apple’s robust security infrastructure.

While we take measures to safeguard your data, we recommend using the app in a secure environment and keeping your device updated to minimise potential risks.

8. Children’s Privacy

ScanCalories is not intended for children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect any data from children. If we become aware of any such data being collected, we will delete it promptly.

9. International Data Transfers

Images uploaded to the OpenAI Vision API may be processed on servers located in different regions. OpenAI automatically deletes all images after processing, ensuring no long-term retention or transfers occur.

10. Changes to the Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If significant changes are made, we will notify users through in-app notifications or other appropriate means. Please review this policy periodically to stay informed of how your data is protected.
